Splore Drops Second Half of 2016 Festival Lineup

None of that mainstream junk.

Instead of taking the easy route and programming a lineup of acts that have already been shoved down our throats by the mainstream crowd, Splore has a penchant for showcasing acts on the verge of cracking the big time.

The lineup for the next installation is no different. The first announcement gave us everyone from indie-songwriter Waxahatchee, charismatic bluesman The Reverend Peyton, and Adelaide hip hop artist Tkay Maidza. The second artist announcement has now been released.

Supporting Splore's eclectic party vibe will be: Austrian house duo Klangkarussell in their New Zealand debut; the UK's hottest hip hop export Little Simz; Berlin punk/cabaret performer Bonaparte; Leeds electro composer Nightmares on Wax; Australian neo-soul group Hiatus Kaiyote, who most recently sold-out shows in Auckland and Wellington; UK jungle pioneers The Ragga Twins; Brazilian reggae/hip hop lyricist BNegao and Italian electro swing DJ Dr Cat.

Local performers added to the roster include: Weird Together DJs, Greg Churchill, Eastern Bloc, Troy Samuela, Dylan C, The Professor, Russell Brown, Lady Flic, Don Johnson, The Dastardly Bounder and Pippin.

With its cutting edge artist lineup, satisfying encouragement of creative expression and support of the arts, Splore is one big friendly and sometimes very weird party. So it's fitting that it's often referred to as New Zealand's answer to Burning Man. Though instead of daily sandstorms and the scent of burning lumber, expect rolling fields, a picturesque beach, swimming lagoon and an art trail.

The full lineup for Splore includes,

The Cuban Brothers // The Correspondents // Waxahatchee // The Reverend Peyton and His Big Damned Band // The Dub Pistols // Tkay Maidza // Jordan Rakei // DJ Sarah Love // Katchafire // Supervillains // Eno x Dirty // Tipene // Race Banyon // Klangkarussell // Little Simz // Hiatus Kaiyote // Bonaparte // Ragga Twins // Dr Cat // BNegao // Troy Samuela // Weird Together (DJ set) // Eastern Bloc // DJ Lady Flic // Greg Churchill // Dylan C // The Professor // Dastardly Bounder // Russell Brown // Pippin // Don Johnson
