St Jerome’s Laneway New Zealand Lineup Announced

So roll up your sleeves and dress yourself ironically. Laneway is going to be more than ok (although you don't need to publicly admit it).

If you felt a little bit out of the loop when you read over the Laneway Festival line-up yesterday, chances are you were not alone. But although you may not have recognised the list of band names that ignore vowels or sound as though they should be spoken with a tinge of irony, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited.

The purveyors of the cool have done it again, and this time the line-up is so good even the most uber hipster is going to have trouble maintaining a look of indifference. The full New Zealand lineup consists of:

Feist, The Horrors, Gotye, Laura Marling, Pajama Club, SBTRKT (Live), Shayne P Carter, Washed Out, Twin Shadow, Anna Calvi, M83, Cults, Girls, Ema, Yuck, Toro Et Moi, Wu Lyf, Glasser, Opossom, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Austra, Transistors.

You can't help but notice the omission of some of the talent featuring on the Australian Laneway's festival bills, namely The Drum's, Active Child and Husky to name a few. However, that's even more of a reason to get in behind the St Jerome's Laneway New Zealand festival, giving the New Zealand creators more confidence (and budget) to host more of touring Laneway musicians.

If the music isn't enough to fire you up, the venue would have to be a trigger of interest. The new Silo Park in North Wynyard, will ensure last year's noise complaints in Aotea Centre are a thing of the past, as well as adding a unique seaside atmosphere. Anyway, these are some talented musicians coming our way for the second month of summer. Here is a selection of some of our favourites:
