Exhibiting some of the most interesting, cutting-edge and legendary bands under the alt banner, The Others Way festival returns to Karangahape Road on September 1.

The festival takes a page out of international music mixers CMJ and SXSW, where attendees can map out their own trajectory across a multitude of venues. Stages for this year's event extend to Whammy Bar, Wine Cellar, Neck of the Woods, Galatos, The Studio and The Thirsty Dog.

Assembling on those stages will be a bona fide sonic feast from New Zealand, including an incredibly rare appearance from influential techno artist, micronism, and iconic Flying Nun band, Sneaky Feelings, for their first performance in who knows how long.

Elsewhere you'll find 2017 Taite Music Prize winners Street Chant, Bic Runga, Mermaidens and Lawrence Arabia. An exception to the all-local theme is Vancouver garage-rock band The Courtneys who last performed here in 2015.
