With her release of her latest album 1989 the squeaky clean pop-country singer has taken to singing about a little less-than-perfect love story. Rumour has it the entire album's dedicated to One Directioner Harry Styles.

Last week the Grammy winning pop artist released the music video to her newest single Blank Space, which rivalled Kim Kardashian's butt and the new Hunger Games soundtrack as the main talking points of the week. Considering the fact that Kim K's butt was something out of this world, and that new soundtrack was curated by our own kind which automatically means every Kiwi knows all about it, let's review why a song (and music video) about a break up has gained so much attraction.

Too much pop, not enough horror. Luckily Slate has stepped in and made the music video all the things it couldn't be.

See the rework below:

And here's the original, for comparison:

The take home message:

(Or maybe just like, be a decent human being and don't cheat on Taylor Swift. Whatever you do, don't cheat on Taylor Swift. Or anyone.)
