Ten More Acts Unveiled for Auckland City Limits

Featuring homegrown favourites, a lauded jazz saxophonist, an emerging alternative-pop artist, and some multi-instrumentalists.

An eclectic mix of acts have been added to the lineup for Auckland's newest music festival.

Auckland City Limits is set to take place at Western Springs Park on March 19 with a bill already boasting a highly anticipated performance from hip hop heavyweight Kendrick Lamar, indie-rock band The National, larger than life Queens rapper Action Bronson and New Zealand-born, Los Angeles-based pop group The Naked & Famous.

The long awaited second artist release has finally been unveiled. On the eve of their departing for a massive world tour homegrown favourites Fat Freddy’s Drop will make an appearance at the festival. The performance from the seven-piece also comes after a string of sell-out shows supporting their new album Bays. Portland indie-band Modest Mouse also lead the second announcement. The band are known for their unpredictable live shows incorporating two drummers and showy multi-instrumentation. The group have performed in NZ once before.

Also joining the bill is lauded jazz saxophonist and Kendrick Lamar collaborator Kamasi Washington, New York rock trio Highly Suspect, indie-pop songwriter Ladyhawke for her first show in New Zealand in almost four years, emerging alternative-pop artist Jarryd James in his live debut, Sydney indie-rock group Gang of Youths, plus local favourites ShapeshifterBroods and Racing.

With 25 of 40 acts now announced an additional performer announcement can be expected in coming weeks, as well as details about food vendors, local artwork, an artisanal market, Auckland Kiddie Limits and more.
