The Top Five Tracks to Hear this Weekend
Some music for the best two days of the week.
The weekend is here, the two best days of the week for most people. Lets enjoy it some more with some solid tunes, from Phoenix remixes to kiwi remixes, a bit of kiwi rock, some Banglade$h, and top it off with some of the old school.
The Hood Internet
While Phoenix purists and R Kelly haters might disagree, this remix by Chicago based duo 'The Hood Internet' is without a doubt one of the best ways to get your weekend started. I won't get into any wanky bullshit about how the 1901 riff and the ignition chorus sound like they were written for each other, we don't have time. Just plug it in, buckle up and make sure the bass is waaaay up. It's the freakin weekend baby, I'm about to have me some fuunnnn!
Clap Clap Riot
Indie rock roll champions Clap Clap Riot should also be at the top of your listening list this weekend. Everybody - the first single (with accompanying video clip) off their second album was released Monday and will certainly get you in the mood. Energetically vintage this little banger will get any pair of shoes tapping with it's fast bosanova drum beat.
Banglade$h
Without a doubt one of my favourite tracks in recent memory. Lean by Bangladesh makes you feel like summer is already hear. Coupled with the fact that drummer Jimi Mateo would be one the funniest fellas I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, this is definitely worth a listen.
Jetski Safari
Home town kids done good Jet Ski Safari featuring the talented and gorgeous Helen Corry are also in this weekend's recommended listening. Like a Lie remixed by Feenxipawl has sky rocketed into the iTunes Charts breaking into the US Dance Top 100 this week. You've probably already heard it, but it can't hurt to hear it again... and again.
GZA
And just because it isn't all about the new, one of the truly magical pieces of hip hop music ever made - Liquid Swords by GZA. It doesn't need an introduction. If you're not a Wu Tang fan, this will be the night that everything changed.
