It's announcement time for one of Karangahape Road's annual highlights: The Others Way Festival. The event's second lineup has just been revealed, with a range of homegrown and international talents set to perform at the one-day festival on Friday, December 1.

In 2023, the event will be headlined by legendary American rap crew Souls of Mischief, who will be celebrating 30 years since the release of their groundbreaking album 93 'til Infinity.

Joining the group will be Fazerdaze, a Kiwi singer-songwriter known for expertly fusing alternative, grungy influences with easy-listening pop. Professional whistler Molly Lewis is also joining the ranks — a niche musical act who refers to herself as "the keeper of the ancient art of lips" and recently contributed to the Barbie soundtrack.

Also on the bill are rapper CHAII who artfully merges rap with Persian music, Australian garage rock band Girl and Girl, violinist Motte and punk-rock outfit Dick Move.

Other acts announced earlier this year include Los Angeles harpist Mary Lattimore, multi-instrumentalist Pachyman, legendary reggae group Herbs (who will be treating the audience to a rare acoustic set), local favourites Strawpeople, soul band Opensouls and Aotearoa Music Awards Best Alternative Artist-winner Vera Ellen, just to name a few.

When the festival takes over Karangahape Road, more than 40 acts will play in, out and around different venues throughout the precinct, resulting in an epic street party. That includes an outdoor stage on Galatos Street, just off K Road, plus an all-ages stage at The Underground, a venue buried in the old vault of St Kevin's Arcade.
