Ōrākei luxury neighbourhood cinema, Silky Otter, was named simply because the title is unforgettable. The boutique New Zealand-owned complex is located in the Ōrākei Bay Village shopping precinct and features two cinemas, each fitted out with 44 luxurious leather recliners, Laser Cinema Projection and 7.1 surround sound.

Before settling into leather recliners to enjoy a completely ad-free pre-show, guests can take their pick from a menu of reimagined movie snacks. Moving beyond your average overpriced popcorn and drink combo, the candy bar selection includes the choice of mini pizzas created by Dante's Napoletana, four-cheese potato croquettes, polenta chips and antipasto platters for sharing.

The dessert menu is also worth venturing out of hibernation for — as well as barista coffee, moviegoers have the choice of a warm triple chocolate brownie and affogato. To wash it all down there's a selection of premium beers and wines — or you can bring your own bottle for $15 corkage.
