Overview
New Year's Eve festival Wondergarden will return for its third run this December, taking over waterfront community space Silo Park. The festival is pitched as an alternative option for Aucklanders who don't want to leave the city limits just to ring in the new year.
The second lineup for the festival has now been unveiled. Joining previously announced acts Nightmares on Wax (DJ set), Dam-Funk, Cut Off Your Hands and JessB is a solid selection of local artists.
Revellers at the waterfront festival will now soak up vibes from New Zealand's queen of soul Ladi6, Kirikiriroa roots sensation Katchafire, Tom Scott's latest jazz-hip hop project Avantdale Bowling Club, indie R&B artist Matthew Young, Onehunga groove lord High Høøps and drumming maestro Julien Dyne.
Wondergarden has also announced a second zone entitled A Silo Called Success, which promises an eclectic dance party inside Wynyard Quarter's six silos. Hosted by Auckland collective A Label Called Success, the space will be headlined by Australian dance duo Kllo, with further performances from Frank Booker, Katherine "K2K" Anderson, Peach Milk, Hugo Jay and Aw B.
As well as a musical component, roaming performers are a large part of the concept and attendees can again expect lighting installations, licensed bars and street food courtesy of the Food Space vendors. It also offer the city's best view of the Sky Tower's midnight fireworks display.
