Brisbane has been building up and up in recent times, but it's not all about the new when it comes to Brisbane Open House. Returning for its 17th edition held across one stacked weekend — Saturday, July 18–Sunday, July 19 — the recently revealed program is one of the event's most ambitious to date. Opening the doors to 93 buildings, including a record 16 private homes, now is the perfect chance to embrace your inner stickybeak. Once again, Brisbane Open House is following its usual agenda, letting Brisbanites play tourist in their own town, but also inviting them to explore the River City's key buildings and landmarks. Spanning old faves and debut acts, the selection of first-timers includes 205 North Quay, 360 Queen Street and the striking residential tower at 443 Queen Street. Plus, there's the chance to experience an exclusive preview of a not-yet-opened lab at the world-leading Translational Research Institute. As for returning favourites, take a tour through ABC Brisbane, Brisbane City Hall, Government House, Brisbane Airport, Port of Brisbane, Parliament House, Spring Hill Baths, Old Government House, Roma Street Fire Station and many more. Of course, stepping into a host of award-winning private homes is always a highlight, and the 2026 program doesn't disappoint. Delivered in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects, highlights include Balmoral Hillside House, modernist icon Eisenmenger House and a tour of six Torbreck Apartments. For an even deeper look, the program is also jam-packed with talks, walks and special events. For instance, GOMA is hosting a series of free public conversations for its 20th anniversary, while a hands-on children's workshop, Ask an Architect is designed to inspire young minds. Meanwhile, don't miss your chance to enter the ballot for one of Brisbane Open House's most sought-after experiences for 2026 — a 30-metre descent underground to check out the construction of Brisbane's Cross River Rail.
