A first-class view deserves a dining experience with premium ingredients — and that's exactly the approach of new downtown opening Lobster & Wagyu. Found on the top floor of the Seafarers building, in the former home of Asian fusion restaurant Seven, the eatery specialises in both of the offerings listed in its name. Lobster & Wagyu comes from Savour Group, the same hospitality group who brought the delicacy of Canadian wild caught lobster to the Auckland Fish Market last year. Here too, diners can enjoy lobster rolls dripping with clarified butter. There's the classic chilled lobster featuring New England mayonnaise, too, and a spicer version loaded with Japanese mayonnaise, wasabi and spring onion. The second part of the equation is Black Origin wagyu sirloin with a marble score of six to seven. The premium grain-fed cuts are available in a katsu sando as single and double serves with mustard and spicy pickles, or in burger form between a soft toasted bun. For the best of both worlds, there's a lobster wagyu burger including smoked cheddar, watercress, tomato and burger sauce. The extravagant surf and turf combo comes with fries, but just be sure to set aside $41.90. If you have any spare change, the dessert menu lists a lemon tart with salted caramel popcorn and hot strawberry jam doughnuts. Lobster & Wagyu is now open at Level 7/52 Tyler Street, Auckland CBD inside the Seafarers building. It's open Wednesday to Saturday until late.
