Good news for Wellingtonians wanting to live their best waste-free life: sustainable grocery store GoodFor has opened up on Jessie Street. The refillery that promotes package-free shopping has already garnered a following in Auckland and Christchurch, and now it's Wellington's turn to experience the joys of this wholesome grocery store. GoodFor is the wholefoods shop of your dreams. Here you'll find neat rows of bins, brimming with organic goodies for your pantry. From baking ingredients to cooking essentials, sweet treats to spices, you can pick and mix to your heart's content — and there's no plastic or excessive packaging in sight. Simply bring your own jars, bottles and containers and fill 'em up with as little or as much as you need. Pricing is all done by weight, so you get to decide how much you need without any wastage. Don't have any jars? You can buy these in store, or just pick up one of the brown paper bags on offer. As well as pantry items, you can also stock up on earth-friendly beauty products and reusable household goods. There's an Ecostore refilling station, so you can top up all your bathroom and cleaning supplies. In case you needed another excuse to spend all your money here, you'll feel even more virtuous knowing that every time you shop, GoodFor will plant a tree. They've teamed up with Trees for the Future, an organisation that helps impoverished communities to plant trees and replenish their food supply. When you shop, GoodFor donates money towards their tree-planting initiatives. GoodFor is located at 23 Jessie Street, opposite Prefab. The refillery is open seven days a week, from 10am–7pm on weekdays and from 10am–6pm on weekends.
