Auckland is currently experiencing something of a hotel boom. In line with the previously projected four million plus visitors set to pay a call to our shores by 2025, more than 4000 new rooms are coming to the central city via new developments. A first look at the flagship Auckland property for QT Hotels & Resorts has now been unveiled, and the hotel is accepting bookings from 1 November, 2020. Found on the edge of the waterfront at 4 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, QT Auckland will be the tenth property for the boutique hotel group and the third in New Zealand. The brand is particularly known for its flashy interior design — QT Wellington houses the largest privately-owned collection of art in New Zealand. For the Auckland edition, QT says long-time collaborator and designer Nic Graham has drawn inspiration from the oyster and the oyster trawler to present "quirky luxury," across the 150 rooms, public spaces, restaurant and rooftop bar. Using the juxtaposition of the rough and natural textures of the shell with the smooth and clean nature of the inside, the space features "exposed concrete and brass accents alongside plush sofas and luxurious rugs." The top-floor Premier Suite sounds ideal for a luxurious staycation in the city, offering a private balcony and views across the harbour. Inside, guests are treated to a rainfall shower, eclectic mini-bar and super king bed. Further rooms up for booking at the new property include the deluxe twin-share with city views and Viaduct-facing balcony suites. QT Auckland will also feature a new dining concept from celebrated chef Sean Connolly, plus a rooftop bar that offers sweeping views of Viaduct Harbour.
