Overview
Sprawling laneway shopping and dining precinct Commercial Bay landed in downtown Auckland last year, presenting the largest concentration of retail and food and beverage offerings in the city. And that's only just the beginning of the billion-dollar mixed-use development.
Developer Precinct Properties this week announced that construction will shortly commence on the anticipated One Queen Street redevelopment project. One Queen Street occupies one of the most prominent positions in Auckland's city centre, sitting at the waterfront end of Queen Street with frontage to Quay Street.
Headlining the second stage is a new luxury hotel operated by the InterContinental Hotels Group. The five-star property will occupy levels 6–11 of the building. Precinct Properties has previously stated that around 90 percent of the 139 guest rooms will offer unobstructed views across the Waitematā Harbour.
The brand's luxury Club InterContinental will be an option for those looking to splash out on a personal chauffeur and lounge access, while the property will also include gym and meeting facilities. The hotel will provide direct access to the Commercial Bay precinct, too, including 120 food and beverage options and retail spaces across three floors.
The second stage also brings eight floors of waterfront office space and a variety of food and beverage outlets. A rooftop bar will take pride of place on level 21, affording guests breathtaking views of the harbour.
One Queen Street will complement the $1 billion Commercial Bay precinct and the new 39-level PwC Tower. The project is scheduled for completion late 2023.
