A glass of champagne, a good book and a bubble bath, or a hammock? With Splinterworks’ latest invention, you can indulge in both at the same time. Titled The Vessel, this latest development in luxury bathing looks like it was made to appear in the next Lana Del Rey film clip. Of course, adding a Jackson Pollock or two to the scene doesn’t hurt.

Made of layers of carbon fibre, The Vessel offers better insulation than your run-of-the-mill tub, meaning that there's every excuse to keep soaking for as long as you like. Well, at least until that bottle of champagne is done. At almost nine feet in length, the design is also especially appealing to athletes and supermodels: no chilly, overhanging feet or cramped up leg muscles.

Needless to say, this kind of style doesn't come at IKEA prices. Splinter Works, formed in 2009 by Miles Hartwell and Matt Withington, has only limited edition and commissioned works on offer. 'Our aim is to create work that is individual, thought-provoking, aesthetically beguiling, intelligently designed and a delight to use,' the designers explain.

The Vessel is available in an array of colours, including silver, bronze and pink. Before rushing off to tell Lana you've make your down payment, however, remember that your bathroom will need to be spacious, with walls strong enough to give the Man of Steel a run for his money.
