Nike's endless engineering dedication to their favourite footballing son, Cristiano Ronaldo, continues with the creation of the Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII CR. Ronaldo's signature clothing collection continues to expand and justifiably so, with his recent nomination for the Ballon d'Or (formerly known as the FIFA Player of the Year), his fifth time on the shortlist since 2007.

Nike's latest conception provides Ronaldo an ideal complement to one of his most renowned attributes - his speed. The track spike-inspired fit is designed to assist Cristiano's explosive speed on the pitch. The striking new design reflects colour inspiration of his new clothing collection, blending a traditional black boot, with a modern twist of blue and pink to consolidate his presence on the pitch.

The bold graphic logo on the boot features a heart overlaid with an X. This portrays Cristiano's love of winning and a hatred of losing, reflective of his passionate, competitive nature on and off the pitch.

The Teijin Microfiber upper has a sleek, snug fit which has been achieved by making the material around the toe softer with a seamless touch. A thinner and stronger construction reduces the weight of the boot to 185 grams - ideal for a combination of speed with optimal levels of support and durability.

Ultimately, the genesis of this boot is founded upon Ronaldo's speed. Traction is another aspect of this and is catered for by twin studs at the back of the boot. This allows for a quick release from the turf and and an assymetric design of the stud configuration providing an explosive start - and hopefully the ability to stay on his feet a few seconds longer.

The Mercurial Vapor VII CR boot is available now at selected Rebel Sport and Football specialist stores at RRP $310.
