Overview

To all accounts, the boat you see pictured here is the fastest foldable marine vessel on the market. According to Deryck Graham, Managing Director of Australian company Quickboats, one person carrying a beer surrounded by even the most distracting of friends can assemble it within three minutes. Two empty-handed individuals can put it together within sixty seconds.

So, that means the adventure of boating is now possible without the hassle and expense of mooring, dragging a trailer, adhering to complex maintenance routines and finding storage space. In fact, the Quickboat can be carried on regular roof racks, in just the same way as surfboards. When folded up, it fits into two bags - one measuring 3.6m x 0.7m x .13m and weighing in at 36kg, the other measuring 1.5m x 1.2m x .08m and weighing in at 18kg.

Once put together, the Quickboat is 3.7m in length and 1.7m in width. Four adults can cruise in comfort, provided they're in enclosed waters and don't exceed too much more than 20knots with 9.8hp.

'We are excited to be able to make boat ownership a more realistic proposition for thousands of Australians,' Graham explains. 'Whether it's a lack of space, cost or both, these factors have meant that many potential boat owners have been turned off the idea of boating being an enjoyable experience. Quickboat delivers an enjoyable boating experience for everyone.'

Set to be unveiled this week at the 2013 Sydney International Boat Show, the Quickboat is currently available through the company's site for $4,375 (GST included).
