Judging from Facebook's success, most members of Gen Y are far from camera shy when it comes to self-portraits. Depending on your view of this phenomenon, Twinkind's latest innovation will be the best, or perhaps the worst, thing to have happened to 3D printing.

Traditional sculpture requires the subject to sit, stand or strike a desire pose for hours on end. However, modern life being the way it is, many individuals don't have that kind of patience. All  you have to do now is take a visit to Twinkind's pop-up studio, surrender your body to a scan and hit the print button. Voila, a mini-you, ready to take pride of place on your mantelpiece. Or maybe your mum's.

Made of polymer plaster, Twinkind's figurines are between 15 and 35 centimetres tall. They can be modelled on people, or favourite objects, or beloved pets. It's even possible to re-scan yourself, to ensure that you're totally satisfied with the end result. Prices start at $319 Australian Dollars.
