General Collective's Giant Christmas Market Returns This Month to a Brand-New Waterfront Venue
Get a jump on your Christmas shopping and browse more than 100 stalls from local designers and creatives.
The soundtracks at the malls have changed to a rotating series of Michael Bublé, Beach Boys and Justin Bieber Christmas albums, which can mean only one thing: Christmas is coming sometime in the vague future (albeit with a month or so leeway) and it's time to start thinking about getting a jump on your prezzie shopping.
To help you avoid too many repeat exposures to Michael Bublé's silky tonsils (even that can get old), the General Collective Christmas Market is making its hotly anticipated post-COVID return — and this year, it's at fancy new digs.
On Sunday, November 20, the market will take over Shed 10 on Queen's Wharf, with over 100 stalls selling designer homewares, art, fashion, skincare, handmade toys — and much more. The products and vendors have all been handpicked by the General Collective team, meaning there's a focus on sourcing high-quality and unique goods — no Shein knock-offs here. You'll also get the chance to meet the creative individuals behind the brands and find out what makes them tick.
To keep the vibes going, there will be live music and some of the city's best street food vendors to keep you fuelled — and yes, there will be coffee. There will also be activities to keep the little ones entertained so you can browse in peace.
The new venue is just a couple of minutes' stroll from Britomart, so once you've sufficiently spent your pennies you grab lunch or an afternoon drink at one of the nearby bars and eateries. After all, you deserve to celebrate getting a jump on your Christmas shopping almost a month early.
The General Collective Christmas Market will take place on Sunday, November 20 at Shed 10 on Queens Wharf, 89 Quay Street. Entry costs $5 per person but is free for kids under 12.
