Overview
We all know how frustrating public transport can be, especially as we rely on the automated transport system giving you a false sense of security into when your bus, train or ferry will actually be arriving. Especially if you have done everything right in getting to your rendezvous point on time, with plenty of time to spare for that meeting that you can not be late for, only to be let down by your late service provider. You probably should have caught the fifteen cabs that drove by earlier.
Thanks to the beauty of crowdsourcing, a smartphone app titled Ototo can assist in the transit planning process. The Israeli designed app relies on a 'community' of passengers to give other users the best suggestions for their commute. According to Fast Company, the service currently has 12,000-strong global 'Riders', that powers its travel recommendations. Something that would be great to see developed and maybe adopted by Auckland Transport.
