Overview

From 13 to 15 September, Dominion Road will be bringing the traditional mid-autumn festival from China to Auckland. The 2019 Dominion Road Moon Festival is a new multi-cultural event involving interactive light displays, cultural and musical performances, food stalls and moon cake and lantern making demonstrations.

The mid-autumn or moon cake festival traditionally celebrates harmony, togetherness and happiness. China and many countries in Asia typically celebrate this day on 15 August where the moon appears to be at its fullest. It is customary for people to gather around, share a meal together and enjoy different outdoor activities around the community, including hanging colourful lanterns to welcome the arrival of the new moon.

If you're a lover of Chinese food and someone who enjoys new experiences, this street party is not to be missed. Be prepared to consume a lot of food.
