Overview

It's helped uncover some of the country's most promising hip hop talent, and now David Dallas' 64 Bars is transitioning from the studio to the stage.

The online video series sees underground rap talent enter Auckland's Red Bull Music Studio to flex their tonsils and punch out 64 bars of pure vocal gold.

The live edition at Ponsonby Social Club on Saturday, 9 February will see 64 Bars alumni take the stage in a stripped back, round-for-round-style performance. 11 past participants will step out of the vocal booth, including JessB, Melodownz, Nauti, Jane Deezy, Stanza Blade, iLLa, Diggy Dupé, Dharmarat, Church Leon, IMAG€ and Swade Wallace.

Now in its seventh season, 64 Bars has seen 23 lyricists strut their stuff on the mic. For many of them 2018 was their biggest year. Jess B scored two nominations at the New Zealand Music Awards, Avondale emcee Melodownz released his double EP and mini album, and Church Leon made waves alongside AP with the single 'Ready Or Not'.

Tickets are $10 with RSVP and $15 without.
