Overview

"The course of true love never did run smooth," says Lysander to Hermia. The young lovers of A Midsummer Night's Dream have run into trouble. Hermia's father has decided that she shall marry Demetrius, not Lysander; if she refuses, she'll have to face the law of Athens - that is, either death or consignment to a nunnery.

On an enchanted summer's evening the two lovers find themselves entangled with Demetrius and Helena in a bewildering game of lust and longing. In a magical forest where a powerful fairy king and queen are at war, nothing is quite as it seems: mischievous spirits run riot, confusion reigns and love conquers all.

Auckland Theatre Company has gathered together some of New Zealand’s finest comic talent including Brooke Williams, Laurel Devenie, Andrew Grainger and Stuart Devenie to entertain audiences with this hugely popular Shakespearean comedy.
