Overview

Acclaimed choreographer Akram Khan is bringing the English National Ballet down under to perform a moving, contemporary rendition of Giselle.

The classical ballet follows a tale of passion and betrayal and is expressed in a modern light, under the direction of Artistic Director Tamara Rojo. The cast is comprised of world-class ballerinas, who take to the stage as a spectacular complete company unit, as well as intimate soloists, taking the audience on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the performance.

The entire aesthetic of the production is modern, bold and daring, with contemporary relevance and it's one of the rare occasions New Zealand has catered to over 100 international performers for the Auckland Arts Festival.

Vincenzo Lamagna's haunting score will be performed by our own Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and the set has been designed by Oscar winner Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Giselle will run for four nights only, and is a sensory masterpiece not to be missed this March.
