Overview

After hitting the road with his trusty backing band The Successors, Auckland-based songwriter Anthonie Tonnon will head back to the establishment he first tested material from his new album, Successor.

Successor is the first release under Tonnon’s own name. His previous releases - including two EPs and a full-length album - were released under the moniker Tono and the Finance Company. The off-the-wall operation led him to perform on the acclaimed Daytrotter Sessions in Illinois, open for indie stalwarts Okkervil River and be included in Billboard.com’s list of “New Zealand acts you need to know about.”

Recorded in various locations around Auckland with band member Jonathan Pearce and his arsenal of analogue equipment, Successor is spearheaded by Tonnon’s trademark wit and features a lyrical style based around long-form journalism.

He celebrated the release with a 12-date tour around the country in March this year. The late addition to the tour schedule will see Tonnon take the stage by himself to perform intimate acoustic renditions of album tracks, as well as experiment with effects pedals and stage tricks he has developed over six months of live performances. The show also welcomes the 12" vinyl version of the album.

Tickets from UTR include a copy of the vinyl.
