Overview

Why not enjoy your time in the shade during this endless summer with Aotearoa's very own surf film festival?

The screening of these films could not be more appropriate, providing a pleasant reminder to the former grommets among us of all that time spent having a wave, during what has been a glorious past few months.

The evening consists of two sessions featuring several films in each slot, or for the real fanatics a discounted package to attend both sessions.

The 6pm session features New Zealand film, Waverider, directed by Karl Lear and produced by Gareth Davies, which has taken out best feature film at this year's festival.

The 8pm session features Australian film, an Official Selection 2013 of this years festival, titled Bending Colours. Bending Colours takes a distorted look at professional surfer Jordy Smith, changing the audience’s perspective on what form a surfing film can take. Filmed on location in Indonesia, Australia, Cape Town South Africa, Reunion, Tahiti, Puerto Rico, France, and Hawaii. Red Bull Media House and Kai Neville Studio dissolve perceptions of movement on the superhighway of performance surfing. Bending Colours is the year-long journey of surfing icon Jordy Smith, one of those rare athletes who delivers on the promises he offered as a teenage prodigy.
