The annual gathering of the country's most talented craftspeople.

Overview

Instead of attempting to make your own ornaments out of pipe cleaners and cotton wool, or heading to the mall and spending all your money on bulk-manufactured trash, make a bee line for Shed 10 on June 14 as the Auckland Fair rolls into town.

Proud supporters of New Zealand’s ‘number 8-wire’ ethos, the fair annually showcases over 150 independent craftspeople and their unique handmade goods from across the country. It first began in 2010 as an idea to help raise the profile of locally made products and so their makers could be introduced to potential stockists, galleries and collaborators. It has since quadrupled in size - over 5,000 visitors are expected through the doors this year.

With her eye for design and style, founder Jessica Whiting has been dubbed one of the country's “Must Follow Pinterest-ers”. She can also be held responsible for curating many of Auckland’s most recognisable craft markets including: First Thursdays, Silo Park Markets, Laneway Festival Markets and We Can Create.

As well as stall holders selling everything from: ceramics to pet attire, prints, candles, furniture, jewellery and food, this year's event will include interactive activities like a complimentary photo booth inside a Kombi van, a kids craft corner, and a chill out zone for attendees to catch their breath.
