Overview

Tickets to Auckland's first fried chicken celebration in 2018 sold out in 19 minutes. The event at Parnell's La Cigale French market was so crammed that attendees had to wait over an hour for a sniff of fried poultry. In 2019 it moved to Queens Wharf venue Shed 10 where it welcomed chicken lovers by the hundreds.

This year, after looking like the entire thing would be canned, the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival is set to make its triumphant return to the waterfront on Saturday, 8 August, 2020. Clucking great news.

Once again, in an effort to cut down wait times and make crowds more manageable, the festival will be hosted across four sessions — lunch from 12–2pm or 2–4pm and dinner from 5–7pm or 7–9pm. Auckland's finest food trucks and chicken restaurants will bring their best chicken-inspired menus. Some will specialise in fried chicken while others will change up their menus to incorporate the theme of the night.

Already on board are: Mexico, Lowbrow, Tiger Burger, NomNom, Temaki Truck, The Pie Piper, Lalele Gelato and Bun Hun. The festival will have live entertainment and activities like axe throwing and crazy golf to keep you busy between meals. Event partner Culley's will be showcasing its award-winning sauces, and Behemoth Brewing Company is whipping up a fried chicken-inspired hazy pale ale for the occasion.
