Overview

The Auckland Historic Bar Tour is a fresh spin on a pub crawl taking place every hump day and sure to get you through the week. Enjoy Kiwi brewed beers while also learning about the history of the nation and tidbits of popular culture.

Over the course of three hours, a guide will take you to five historic spots and share stories about New Zealand past and present. At the five storied Auckland bars you'll have the chance to try five different beers brewed in our own backyard and may uncover a new favourite after work haunt.

Along the way you'll hear about the area known as the 'hell hole of the Pacific', where pirates, prostitutes and paupers gathered to drink and blow off steam. You'll also learn fun facts including how a local invention changed the brewing process, one theory for where 'happy hour' comes from and how we came to be known as Kiwis.

The team behind the tour say it's best to reserve your place in advance and eat before you arrive — you may want to remember the fun facts you collect along the way.
