Overview

If whitebait fritters and waterfront fireworks sound like your bag, then reel yourself in to the Auckland Seafood Festival over Auckland Anniversary Weekend. From January 29 to February 1, the Halsey Wharf will celebrate fare from the sea with pop-up stalls, live music and chef demonstrations.

More than 100 seafood dishes will be on offer across 50 stands, including things from great depths that you didn’t even know about; there will be live demonstrations at the Cooking Theatre with local food experts; fishing celeb Graeme Sinclair will be on hand to give tips on how to bring in the big one and will watch over the kids in the morning as they take part in the Tradezone Kids Gone Fishin’ at Wynyard Quarter.

Attendees also have the option of wishing the country’s fishing fleet a safe and prosperous year ahead as they leave the harbour, and take part in a fish filleting competition to fillet 10kgs of fish in the fastest time possible.

A lineup of classic Kiwi acts including Tiki Taane, Anika Moa and Che Fu will be on hand to entertain the crowds and a fireworks display will sign off day two.
