Overview

Watching Michael Bay orchestrate endless explosions and Katniss Everdeen shoot arrows has a certain mindless, culturally bereft entertainment value to it. Sometimes. However for real film from all over the world - experimental in nature and underground in origin - check out the Auckland Underground Film Festival. Showcasing exciting undiscovered video artists and documentary makers, this promises to be a challenging yet rewarding feast of short films.

Taking place in Auckland's premier indie theatre, Academy Cinemas, and with help from the Waitemata Local Board and The Wallace Foundation - this event gives up and coming film makers a platform to showcase their work. If you're a Kiwi filmmaker - take note - as submissions are open and entirely free. The same is true for audience members so just show up on the day to witness films unlike any you've seen before.
