Overview

Before you cocoon yourself on the couch with a jar of peanut butter, a spoon and multiple seasons of whatever show public opinion has deemed the latest binge-worthy phenomenon, stop. Put the spoon down. There's no doubt it's been a busy few months in the Auckland arts scene — with the Auckland Fringe Festival, Auckland Writers Festival and the NZ International Comedy Festival providing us with plenty to muse over. So the clever thinkers at Basement Theatre have devised a way to reset the weary souls of Auckland's creative beings.

Across the last week in May find some time — no, make some time dammit — in your schedule to do something that serves you, and only you. From Tuesday through to Thursday, drop in to one of the morning yoga, pilates or meditation sessions, or attend the evening talks on taking care of yourself in the pursuit of creative fulfilment. For an extra dose of self-care, book yourself in for a Nicetouch Massage and let Lucy melt away the stresses of trying to sell enough show tickets. Then at the end of the (very restful) week, shake out all those seated yoga twists with some damn good dancing in the dark, courtesy of No Lights No Lycra.

Everything at the Basement's Wellness Week — with the exception of No Lights No Lycra ($7) and Nicetouch Massages — are koha. Thank you for your attention, now if you so desire, you may return to eating the ultimate comfort food straight from the jar.
