Overview

Three golden age rock acts are making their way to New Zealand to prove that the rock n' roll dream is still alive.

Billy Idol will make his first appearance in New Zealand since performing at Mt Smart in 1987. He'll likely perform material off his latest album Kings & Queens Of The Underground, though will hopefully will avoid the "play something we all know" hecklers by busting-out classics like 'Dancing With Myself', 'White Wedding' and 'Rebel Yell'.

Illinois rock band Cheap Trick, first played down under in 1979 and received a stern warning from Auckland Town Hall management to keep the audience in check. The band are often referred to as the 'American Beatles'. Their biggest hits include 'Surrender', 'I Want You to Want Me' and 'Dream Police'.

It'll be the first time Aussie rockers The Angels perform on our soil since their lead singer Doc Neeson passed away this year. Dave Gleeson of hard rock band Screaming Jets has stepped up for the role. The band have been cited as core influences of Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam and Nirvana, and prompted the famous Australian chant "No way, get fucked, fuck off".
