A dream come true.

Overview

You may not think you've heard of Cat Power but think back to 2007 when everyone's favourite Canadian-American indie film Juno hit the big screen - Ellen Page wasn't the only babe the mainstream world was introduced to that year. Remember the deliciously heartbreaking cover of 'Sea of Love' that you no doubt downloaded and loaded onto your iPod? Yes, that was Cat Power and she's on our way to perform for us. You lucky little things.

Cat Power, or Chan Marshall if you're not into stage names, is a dream come true, her raspy, ethereal vocals allow her to effortlessly cross genres and pour her heart out into each and every one of her songs.

The name Cat Power was set in stone on the night of her first gig, "I was on a payphone trying to come up with a name and I saw someone wearing a Cat Diesel Power hat. I decided the name of our band would be Cat Power," she told one interviewer.

Discovered in 1994 by the drummer of Sonic Youth, Cat Power released her first album, Dear Sir, the following year and has spent the past 20 years winning over the world.

With a deep desire to change the world for the better, there is no doubt that this is an overwhelming task, and you can hear it in her voice. She once credited her fans as the sole reason she is still alive today.

Cat Power is a fan of intimate shows where she can get up close and personal with her audience and she's playing at the Powerstation this time around, so expect something a bit cosy. Prepare for her to rip your heart out.
