Overview

Lovers of all things hot and hoppy should start warming up their tonsils, as Hallertau Brewery’s Chilli and Hop Festival returns for its fourth outing.

A dozen iron-tounged heat-lovers will chomp their way through the world’s hottest chillies, with hopes of taking out the Auckland heat of the New Zealand Chilli Eating Champs. A line-up of New Zealand’s hoppiest beers plus local and international chilli beers will be on hand to ease (or contribute to) the pain, and Hallertau head brewer Steve Plowman will lead a panel in judging a Chilli beer themed home brew challenge.

Auckland’s roaming taco truck The Lucky Taco will keep with the spice theme, serving up their delicious Mexican fare and a chilli market will host some the best local chilli sauce producers. Thomson Whisky will be showcasing the latest offerings from their distillery located on-site at the countryside brewery.

Heating up the dance floor will be rock/soul duo Show Me Were It Hurts.

Admission includes a souvenir glass and the first drink free.
