Overview
Following last year's high-flying extravaganza set in the Avatar universe, the world's most famous circus is returning to Auckland with its big top (Grand Chapiteau) for the first time in five years. Inside the blue and yellow marquee visitors will be treated to Cirque du Soleil's Kooza, a homage to the traditions of circus.
The show is said to spotlight the intimate and fundamental human elements of circus, combining acrobatic performance with the art of clowning. The production follows The Innocent as he "takes a journey of self-discovery through a comic kingdom of eccentric characters, electrifying thrills and out-of-the-box surprises." A cast of 50 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors will attempt superhuman feats to a live soundtrack of jazz, funk and Bollywood beats. You can expect acrobats jumping off teeterboards on stilts, crossing high wires on bicycles and the Wheel of Death.
Los Angeles Times called the show "… a thrilling spectacle jam-packed with white-knuckle acrobatic moments."
Kooza will run at Auckland's Alexandra Park from Friday, 15 February, 2019.
