Courtney Barnett

The Melbourne indie-rocker is casually taking over the world with her loose riffs and dead-pan vocals.

Overview

Courtney Barnett was last in town for Laneway festival in February. There was possibly no better way to sum up a festival drenched in cider, sweat, and cigarette smoke, than the loose riffs, and dead pan Aussie twanged vocals of Barnett and her band. She returns again on November 6 to play the St James Theatre, for what promises to be a slightly more intimate affair.

Shortly after her last visit, Barnett released the album Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit to widespread critical acclaim. The album has since reached #4 in her native 'Straya, and top twenty in New Zealand, the UK and the USA.

The Melbourne lass has been touring non-stop since the album's release, playing festivals across the US and Europe, as well as opening for Blur at the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden. By all accounts, she has been going off like a cut snake.

Barnett's observational lyrics, and modest charm are sure to resonate with a Kiwi audience once again, just as they did on that glorious afternoon in February.

Update: Tickets for Auckland show are now sold out. Keep posted to the Facebook event page as there are a few people selling their tickets.
