Overview

Described as the "Olympics of theatre", Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a lofty height to scale, and a dream come true for Bullet Heart Club's Kiwi-cabaret show Daffodils. The company has been invited to perform their much-praised production at the world's most famous arts festival.

Since premiering in 2014, rave reviews saw Daffodils go on to perform twelve seasons throughout the country. A tale that resonated across the length of New Zealand, Daffodils tells the true story of country girl Rose and teddy boy Eric, as they meet and fall in love in Hamilton in the '60s. Seamlessly woven throughout the show is the iconic Kiwi music that shapes their lives – featuring songs by Crowded House, Chris Knox, Mint Chicks, The Exponents, Darcy Clay and Th'Dudes.

Faced with the challenge of raising $100,000 to stage the show, Bullet Heart Club and Auckland Live are hosting a benefit gala performance to get the production to the Traverse Theatre, Scotland's most prestigious venue. For one night only, experience Daffodils on a grand scale, complete with the original cast and special guest performances by Anika Moa, Tami Nielson, Julia Deans and Trip Pony. Described as a masterful mash-up of Kiwi culture, head along before Daffodils sets off on it's big OE.
