Overview

Deadshot has opened up its nondescript door to make the most of the outstanding weather — while it lasts. The Ponsonby Road speakeasy is best known for its moody setting to sip on strong, unforgiving concoctions; now, its new front courtyard allows guests to sit under a vintage parasol and sip boozy cocktail slushies.

The two-week-long Garden Party is set to run between 4–15 March in cahoots with Hancocks. While watching the action of Ponsonby's main strip unfold, you can sit back and work through the bar's new summery cocktail menu. Deadshot's Penichillin is an ode to the traditional cocktail, only served icy with lemon, spicy ginger, honey and a float of peated scotch. The 'favourites' list features the bar's take on an espresso martini, with hints of maple and a touch of cream, while the 'Isabella' is an old fashioned-style drink combining Irish whiskey, vermouth, Drambuie and Angostura bitters.

The best bit: $2 from every drink sold will be donated to Ngā Rangatira Toa to help vulnerable Auckland youth. Live music will round off the vibe every Friday and Saturday night.
