Dictyoptera
An insect superorder and a multi-channel sound installation.
Overview
The art world is always full of surprises and something a little different this month is Paul Timing's Dictyoptera.
Now, if you've got no idea what that means, it's an insect superorder that includes two orders of polyneopterous insects: the termites and cockroaches along with the mantids. Apparently, they have a rather flattened form, two pairs of wings, and, of course, long spiky legs.
In this case, it's a multi-channel sound installation at the Audio Foundation. The work is made up of discrete moments from presentations by Chief Executive Officers at Select Committee meetings from when the artist was a scribe.
With all of the info at your fingertips, let your imagination run wild until opening night and check it out for yourself.
