Yippee ki-yay, movie watchers. It wouldn't be Christmas without your favourite action flick hitting the big screen. This silly season, Auckland's Academy Cinemas is hosting twice the twice the one-liners and twice the explosions in a Die Hard double bill.
Kicking things off at 6pm on Saturday, December 12 is the original Die Hard. New York City policeman John McClane is visiting his estranged wife at a holiday party in Nakatomi Plaza. Festivities are quickly interrupted by a group of German terrorists who take over the high-rise. Very soon McClane realizes that there's no one to save the hostages — but him.
After a 20-minute intermission, Die Hard 2: Die Harder takes centre stage. This time, McClane is mixed up in a terrorist plot at Washington Airport. He takes action when a treasonous ex-colonel seizes control of the airport, threatening to crash every inbound flight unless South American politico and drug profiteer Ramon Esperanza is freed.
