Influenced by the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys, with elements of both incorporated into Dinosaur Jr.'s sound, Lou Barlow's bass lines and J Mascis's vocals are distinctive features of Dinosaur Jr.'s music. Bassist Barlow's style features alternating heavily distorting, fast chords and pulverising lows, while Mascis's songmanship is characterised by his "whiny low-key drawl".
Twenty seven years have passed since the Massachusetts locals' indie debut on Homestead Records; with their latest offering 'I Bet On Sky' critically heralded as perhaps their very best.
