Overview

After his mesmerising performance earlier this year at Gisborne's Rhythm and Vines festival (the earliest perhaps, in the wee hours of New Year's Day morning), DJ Yoda has hung around in this beautiful part of the world for a show at Cassette Number Nine in Auckland City.

For a mere $12.50 (before midnight) this could potentially be the bargain of the year, with Yoda renowned for his mind-blowing AV sets. Yoda has previously managed to somehow blend Family Guy, Star Wars and Anchorman, and even clips of equestrian events into his performances, which are synchronised to the tracks he is simultaneously mixing.

DJ Yoda, also known as Duncan Beiny, is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, whilst Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.
