Ahead of their mid-year festival, The Documentary Edge International Film Festival (Doc Edge) has curated a selection of international films for Auckland Pride Festival. For one weekend only, Auckland Art Gallery will open its doors to Doc Edge Pride, a mini film festival showcasing real-life stories with queer culture at their heart.

The lineup will touch on all aspects of rainbow culture — from the hedonistic trip of Studio 54 to the movement for trans equality in the military. The Coming Back Out Ball Movie follows a group of elderly invited to celebrate their gender and sexual identity, some for the first time, at a dedicated ball. From Baghdad to the Bay tells the story of Ghazwan Alsharif, a former Iraqi translator for the U.S. military, who was wrongfully accused as a double agent, tortured and ostracised. Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life dives into the life of one of the world's most successful gay porn stars and his unusual relationship with his mother. Mr. Gay Syria follows two Syrian refugees who are trying to rebuild their lives while attempting to realise their dream of competing in Mr. Gay World competition. The Doc Edge Pride film festival will screen in the Auckland Art Gallery Auditorium from Friday, 15 February to Sunday, 17 February.
