Overview

Every year the streets of Auckland CBD come alive thanks to Late Night Art. The annual event, which runs as part of Artweek Auckland, sees galleries stay open late, live performances hit the streets and visitors express their creativity.

The Drawing Club is a popular fixture of the event. The free drawing session sees art enthusiasts drop in and translate their vision on paper in the curated setting of live models and still-life backdrops. Both experienced sketchers and artistic newbies are welcome, and all art materials are supplied. This year two sessions are taking place — 5pm and 7pm — in the Paddy Walker Room inside the Ellen Melville Centre.

The tenth edition of Artweek Auckland returns between 10–18 October to celebrate our city's diverse artistic community. Featuring exhibitions, happenings and workshops across ten precincts, each area aims to highlight its unique place in Auckland's artistic landscape. This year's eight-day celebration is packed with over 50 late-night events, free guided tours, drawing clubs, exhibitions and beverage tastings for art aficionados.
