Overview

Dominion Road is regularly considered the best place in Auckland to wolf down dumplings — and for good reason. On a trip down the bustling strip you will encounter everything from humble pot stickers to xiao long bao, shui jiao and gyoza.

As part of month-long festival Elemental AKL, this November will see a free dumpling trail pop-up along Dominion Road. From the Behemoth Brewing Company pop-up bar at Wiremu Street, visitors can head out on a self-guided dumpling crawl by hopping between food stalls to enjoy a wide variety of plump morsels. Each participating Dominion Road restaurant will offers up tasting sized plates of their specialties. The trail will also come alive with free entertainment, including dancing and live music,

Elemental AKL returns from 1–31 October, this time with more than 30 free and ticketed events from Matakana to Mangere, Onehunga to Oneroa. Now in its second year, the festival is run by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) in an effort to showcase the region's diverse food and culture and encourage visitation outside of peak months.
