Overview

This event follows in the footsteps of last year's sold out Lady Sings the Blues (a tribute to blues diva Billie Holiday). This year, three of New Zealand's leading ladies will pay tribute to the late, great, blue eyed, soul songstress Dusty Springfield in Dust to Dusky.

Tami Neilson, Bella Kalolo and Anna Coddington will be putting their Aotearoa spin on the classic tunes of one of the most iconic voices in history. Dusty Springfield is credited with bringing the American soul sound to the UK as she emulated her Motown heroes with songs like 'Son Of a Preacher Man' and 'I Only Want To Be With You', to name a few.

Dust to Dusky will track Dusty's career from her folk beginnings through the Memphis years, to the soulful '60s England she championed, and on to her adventures with The Pet Shop Boys in the '80s and '90s. Neilson, Kalolo and Coddington, with musical director Steph Brown re-create her hits and remember the rock 'n' roll hall of famer who passed away almost two decades ago.
