Overview

Eagles of Death Metal have dominated headlines in both world news and music press for a variety of reasons over the last six months. Before the tragedy of the Bataclan concert in Paris, the band had released their fourth studio album and lead singer Jesse Hughes had starred in a Vice documentary covering his journey towards becoming an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.

In the following weeks and months, the band delivered an interview that cut deep into the aftermath of the event and the implications for the band as both an entity and as individuals. The world tour resumed and EODM returned to Paris, a single from their album Zipper Down became an unofficial anthem for solidarity and Hughes found himself in hot water for his ultra-conservative views on gun control laws, a Republican stance which feels at odds with his rock 'n' roll lifestyle, and a misguided opinion on alleged security flaws at the Bataclan venue.

Dodgy politics aside, the most important thing to remember about Eagles of Death Metal is that they do stripped back, danceable blues riffs better than most, and preacher man or otherwise, Jesse Hughes writes lyrics which call on enough outlandish badass behaviors and experiences to last three lifetimes (and which have earned him his "The Devil" moniker). If you're looking to rack up some miles in your dancing shoes, a whopping set of bluesy rock n'roll courtesy of Eagles of Death Metal is your best bet.
