Overview

Presented by the EcoMatters Environment Trust, EcoFest West is a month-long celebration of the environment and the giant floating orb that we call home. More than 140 events will take place as part of this year's festival, giving Aucklanders an opportunity to get involved, show mother nature some love and learn something new.

The festival will kick off in true earth-hugging style with a silent disco city cleanup, where participants can tune into one of the music channels while walking, dancing and picking up rubbish along Swanson and Waiomoko Streams.

From there, the festival offers the perfect opportunity to pick up some new life skills, including how to grow and look after herbs, the basics of organic gardening and composting, the secrets of making delicious sourdough, the art of pouring your own soy wax candle, and crafting eco-friendly beauty butters and balms.

Further highlights include late-night walks spotting glow worms, giant moths and bats in their natural habitat; a guided kayak tour through the typically unaccessible Te Henga Wetland; the Re:Generate pre-loved fashion market; plus Te Atatu South's Friday night street food festival.
