Overview

Last year's Big Gay Out was rained off due to Auckland's inclement weather. This has not dampened the spirits of the team at the New Zealand AIDS Foundation, however, who promise that this year's event will be "the biggest, gayest Big Gay Out ever." Let us cross our fingers that Big Gay Out 2019, in celebration of the annual event's 20th anniversary, will also be one of the sunniest to date (even if a post-shower rainbow in the sky would be, in its own way, apposite).

The Big Gay Out is brought to us by the passionate folk at the NZ AIDS Foundation who work tirelessly to raise awareness of, to reduce the stigma towards those affected by, and, ultimately, to prevent HIV transmissions. Part of Auckland Pride, The Big Gay Out is consistently one of the festival's cornerstone, and most fabulous, events. Each year it attracts over 10,000 gorgeous LGBT+ individuals who 'come out' for a day in the sun full of music, food, dance and colour.

You can follow the announcements for The Durex Main Stage, a Big Gay Out treasure, here. And just in case the weather on Sunday, 10 February proves inhospitable, the organisers have a back-up date: 24 February.
